Scope of the Position

The Quality Manager plans, coordinates, and directs quality programs designed to ensure quality control and quality assurance of the production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate associates.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with customer on quality issues.
  • Perform quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records
  • Plans and oversees the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Analyze problems for root cause and initiate actions.
  • Formulates and maintains quality objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.Interprets quality philosophy to key personnel in organization.
  • Works to assure TS16949 conformance plant wide; acts as management representative for TS16949 activities.
  • Provides management with concise, accurate, up-to-date quality forecasts, indicators and status.
  • Monitor customer metrics; report those to the Plant Manager.Monitor internal quality metrics (i.e. PPM, containment) and report to the Plant Manager.
  • Develops standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities.
  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
  • Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
  • Plays active role on quality management teams within the organization.Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality.
  • Manages the Quality Management System for the facility.
  • Manages and controls quality documents.Coordinates the Records Retention system for the facility.
  • Evaluates associate performance on a prescribed basis and recommend changes in positions and pay rates as required.
  • Must be flexible for change and be able to work well under deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Responsible for maintaining 5S standards as they relate to housekeeping in your assigned work area.
  • Maintains compliance to company policies, work rules, safety & housekeeping standards.
  • Follow ISO 14001 and TS 16949 Requirements per standards

Skills & Abilities

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in quality engineering or related technology or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in a manufacturing facility that offered the opportunity to gain a well-rounded background in quality management.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred
  • Machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and maintenance.
  • Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office and the use of statistical software.
  • Ability to work effectively alone and prioritize.
  • Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail.
  • Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives are prerequisites.
  • Strong analytical ability
